Mission -- Department of Political Science The Department of Political Science seeks to provide instruction in such a manner that program graduates have the knowledge, critical thinking, analytical ability and communication skills needed to combatively pursue careers in their competence or continue their education in professional or graduate school. The Department of Political Science offers an undergraduate degree program: - the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science - THE Basic objectives of the degree program are: -- To provide instruction for students planning careers in law, public and non-profit management, urban planning, research, teaching, U.S. politics, and foreign affairs. -- To prepare students to be able to examine critically, evaluate and analyze contemporary issues in politics and public policy. -- To assist students in effectively developing the communication skills needed to competitively pursue their desired careers and/or pursue advanced degrees in their areas of interest. Note: For non-majors, the program can provide a proper frame of reference for those who wish to supplement and broaden their educational experience in political science and public policy. |
