Dr.. Nixon is a concert soprano soloist. She has performed with the Virginia Opera Association. She received outstanding reviews in her role as “Clara” in George Gershwin’s opera, Porgy and Bess in Virginia and in three countries in South America. She has also performed with the Virginia Symphony Pops and the I. Sherman Greene Chorale. Dr.. Nixon frequently performs as “Lula Bell” in Mrs. Christine Davis’ Musical Let My People Go with the Virginia Opera Guild. Dr.. Nixon also performs with “Legacy of Weyanoke”, an ac cappella group that journeys through song from Africa to the United States. Dr.. Nixon has sung for many community organizations and educational facilities such as Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority Inc., The Links, The Urban League, The Virginia Education Association, Norfolk State University, Old Dominion University, University of Maryland, Eastern Shore, and several churches and religious organizations. She is a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Portsmouth, VA, where she sings in the Chancel Choir and was the Director and Accompanist of the Intermediate Choir from November 1991 to December 2010. She is married to Jimmie L. Nixon. She is the grandmother of two, Omar K. Greene, Jr. and Amani Regina Anne Greene. She is a member of Gamma Delta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Portsmouth, VA., the Tidewater Area Musicians of the National Association of Negro Musicians, the VA Music Education Association of MENC, the National Association of Teachers of Singing and other professional organizations.
