DEPARTMENTAL OBJECTIVES:
-- to prepare students for professional careers as teachers,
performers, and music-media specialists;
-- to provide opportunities for students in other academic
disciplines to develop an understanding and appreciation of music;
-- to enrich the cultural life of our University and community.
These objectives are met through the undergraduate and master's
degree curricula as well as through the department's sponsorship
of performance ensembles and annual student recitals.
FACULTY
The Music Department's faculty consists of full time and part-time members, including specialists in vocal, keyboard, and instrumental areas of study. Faculty members are not only teachers, but also practicing regional musicians and recording artists.
FACILITIES
The Hamm Fine Arts Building houses the department and provides all of its facilities for classes and lessons. Included are large and small ensemble rehearsal rooms, practice rooms, classrooms, an audio-visual laboratory, recording and teaching studios, and a music computer library.
