Mrs. Thomas is a native of Pascagoula, Mississippi. She earned her B.S. degree in Language Arts from then-Jackson State College now Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi. There she became a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. Mrs. Thomas served as a teacher, Forensics coach, and specialist in Reading in the Content Areas in Norfolk Public Schools for 33 years. She earned her Master of Arts degree in School Administration and Supervision from then- Hampton Institute, now Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. There, she was inducted into the Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society. She joined the Department of English and Foreign Languages at Norfolk State University in 1990 and has served as an adjunct faculty member for the past 17 years in public speaking and English.Mrs. Thomas’ favorite book is the Bible.
