Dr. Leroy Hamilton, Jr., teaches freshman and sophomore composition courses and African-American literature. He also teaches online courses. Dr. Hamilton is a 1991 graduate of Notre Dame High School in West Haven, CT. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in English, a master of arts degree in communications/linguistic studies, a master of arts degree in administration and supervision pre-K-12, an advanced studies endorsement in English, and a doctoral degree in educational leadership.
Dr. Hamilton holds membership in the following professional organizations: Virginia Association of Teachers of English, National Council of Teachers of English, Conference on College Composition and Communication, and English Leadership Quarterly. Additionally, Hamilton is a member of Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society, Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities, Who's Who Among American Teachers, a member of 200 + Men of Hampton Roads, and a member and chapter advisor for Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Hamilton’s favorite authors are Anne Petry and Ernest Gaines.
