Ms. LaTonya Butts is the instructor/trainer in the Comprehensive Language Laboratory in the Department.  She received an associate’s degree in computer programming from Bryant & Stratton College in 2003 and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Averett University.

 

She gained experience with information systems during her tenure as a leasing agent with Community Alternatives Management Group, Inc.  As the information specialist liaison, she played a vital role in bridging the gap between human services and information systems.  From 2005-2007, she served as a committee member for the Homeless Management Information Systems Board for the City of Virginia Beach and as assistant system administrator for ServicePoint software used by Virginia Beach homeless agencies.  She dabbles in Web design, Web animation, and collage art.  In 2006, she designed commercial stationery and logos for Virginia Beach Homeless Advocacy Resources and Partnership. 

 

Ms. Butts’  favorite novel is Maya Angelou’s  I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.
