Dr. Karen Tatum is happy to have joined the Department of English and Foreign Languages faculty of Norfolk State University in Fall 2007. She received her Ph.D. in English from The University of Alabama and her master's and bachelor's degrees in English and women's studies from The University of Houston. She has published books and articles on psychoanalytic approaches to interpreting violence against women in Victorian novels such as Oliver Twist and Jane Eyre. Thus, not surprisingly, her favorite authors are Charles Dickens and Charlotte Bronte, “but,” she says, "Faulkner and Shakespeare aren't bad either."
