Mrs. Barbara Collins McCall graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk.  She earned both the bachelor of science and the master of arts degree from Norfolk State.  

 

During her 41-year tenure at Norfolk State, Mrs. McCall has held many challenging and rewarding positions.  She was confidential secretary to the University’s first president, Dr. Lyman B. Brooks; assistant director/counselor for Upward Bound; director of the Instructional Resource Center (IRC), instructor in the Language Skills Center/Writing Center, and, currently, is an assistant professor of English. 

 

Mrs. McCall teaches freshman and sophomore-level English courses.  She is also faculty advisor to Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society, Xi Nu Chapter, at Norfolk State University.

 

Gwendolyn Brooks and Langston Hughes are among her favorite writers.
