Welcome

The Department of English and Foreign Languages offers a bachelor of arts degree in English. Students majoring in English may follow one of three curricula: English, Spanish Literature, and Communication Sciences and Disorders. The English and Spanish Literature curricula can include an endorsement in secondary education. Students interested in theatre follow the Liberal Arts curriculum.

The Department of English and Foreign Languages welcomes serious students who seek a solid liberal arts education that strengthens academic skills, facilitates the acquisition of new knowledge, and promotes cultural enrichment and social responsibility.

English majors participate in campus activities, lead student organizations, plan and participate in literary events, produce and perform in plays, engage in service-learning activities, and/or help to publish a creative writing magazine, The Norfolk Review. They use cutting-edge technology in preparing assignments and presentations. In sum, students who major in English become fully engaged in campus and community life.  They rise above the crowd.
